The Avid Adventurer

This trip is your arena — you want your heart racing.

The profile

An Avid Adventurer measures a trip by how alive it made them feel — and "alive" usually means their heart was pounding. Comfort is fine in small doses, but a week of it leaves them restless. What they're really chasing is the moment right at their edge: the pitch that's a little too steep, the water a little too cold, the summit that was never guaranteed.

The trips that satisfy this type are built around a physical centerpiece — a multi-day trek, a dive certification, a stretch of whitewater — with everything else arranged in support of it. They don't need luxury; they need capability: good gear, a guide who knows the terrain, and enough recovery to go hard again tomorrow. The best souvenir is a story that starts with "we almost didn't make it."

What to protect on an Adventurer's trip is the challenge itself — resist the urge to soften it into something safer and more scenic. The reward is on the far side of the effort. They'll know the trip worked by the specific, earned exhaustion of having done something that asked everything of them.
